Macra Engineering Ltd is a company that specialises in surveys and thorough examination and reports. These inspections and reports are a legal requirement under the PUWER (Provision & Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998) and LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998) for any lifting equipment and machinery used by every industry.
If you operate any lifting equipment, you have a legal obligation to ensure that it holds a valid Report of Thorough Examination. This applies whether you own, lease or hire the equipment. The examination is like a car MOT, but much more rigorous. It is a legal requirement for all lifting equipment and machinery, including those that are just one year old.
Not having a valid report on your lifting equipment could lead to prosecution and invalidation of your insurance. Faulty equipment can be the cause of serious accidents.
We produce individually numbered reports following the inspection.
We will remind you when your inspections are due, ensuring that your business continues to comply with Health and Safety regulations.

Macra Engineering Ltd was set up to conduct Statutory Thorough Examination under LOLER and PUWER 1998 in 2014. The founder having spent 37 years in the Heavy Plant and HGV repair world. Working for blue-chip companies throughout his career and making significant headway with regards to promotion and qualification decided to start his own business for a much quieter life to retirement. However, that hasn’t happened.
Macra now has grown into Mechanical Installation and repair of lifting equipment, and Sales of lifting tackle and equipment as well as Statutory Thorough Examination under HSE rules. Our mission is Safety, Quality and Education. Much the same ethos that was always the intention of the M.D.
